(Ginebra, Suiza, 20 de Junio 2014) –  La República Dominicana acepto hoy implementar 84 recomendaciones, emanadas del Examen Periódico Universal del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas. La ministro consejera de la Misión Dominicana ante la ONU en Ginebra, Suiza, Katherine Urbaez hablo a nombre del Estado y agradeció a todos los países por su cooperación, y dijo »Expresamos la aceptación de casi todas las recomendaciones, compartimos los propósitos de las mismas ya que se encuentran en práctica o ya están en fase de implementación, (84) en relación con un pequeño grupo de recomendaciones, (29) que por el momento no es posible asegurar su cumplimiento y se ha tomado nota. Solo (21) recomendaciones que son incompatibles con los principios constitucionales y ordenamiento jurídico interno no cuentan con nuestro. ‘‘

Luego de las palabras del Estado Dominicano, cuatro países tomaron su turno para externar su satisfacción con la aprobación de la mayoría de las recomendaciones, estos fueron Marruecos, Argelia, Cuba y Venezuela.

Al finalizar los países, varias organizaciones no gubernamentales y agencias internacionales hablaron, tales como ILGA, Muchachas y Muchachos con Don Bosco, Minority Rights, UNICEF, Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Derechos Humanos, Open Society Foundation y FUNCEJI.

Por FUNCEJI hablo el Lic. Ambiorix Feliz Brito, quien expreso felicitaciones al Estado por haber aplicado la recomendación del Defensor del Pueblo y expreso preocupación por las 1,769 personas asesinadas por la policía del 2008 al 2013, la no tipificación de las ejecuciones extrajudiciales y la desaparición forzada, recordó el caso de Juan Almonte y la no aplicación de la sentencia de la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos sobre el caso Narciso Gonzales. A la vez externo satisfacción por la aprobación de la ley de naturalización pero señalo que espera que la misma sea aplicada justamente y en el futuro se incluya a los no registrados.

(Geneva, Switzerland, 20th June 2014) – The Domincan Republic accepted today, to implement 84 recomendations as outcome to its Universal Periodical Review carried out by the UN Human Rights Council.

Katherine Urbáez, Minister Councilor of the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic before the UN organisms in Geneva, spoke on behalf of the Government and thanked all those countries for their cooperation. “We have accepted almost all the recomendations made, we share their essence as most of them are already being implemented or it is planned to do so shortly (84), about certain number of recomendations (29) for which is not possible to ensure their application at the moment will be estudied. Only (21) recomendations which are incompatible with our constitutional principles and internal legal order, do not have our support” she said.

Following the remarks of the Dominican Government, another four countries had the floor to express their satisfaction with the approval of most of their recommendations, those were Morocco, Algeria, Cuba and Venezuela.

Concluded their intervention, several Non Guvernanmental Organisations and international agencies took the floor among them ILGA, Boys and Girls with Don Bosco, Minority Rights, UNICEF, the UN High Commissionate for Human Rights, Open Society Foundation and FUNCEJI.

Mr. Ambiorix Feliz Brito, delivered an speech on behalf of FUNCEJI. He commended the Dominican Government for the designation of the Onbudsman and expressed concern for the 1,769 people assasinated between 2008 and 2013, the non tipification of the extra judiciary killings and forced disappearances. He stressed the case of Juan Almonte and the non implementation of the sente of the Interamerican Human Rights Court regarding the case of Narciso González. At the same time expressed satisfaction for the approval of the naturalisation bill but addressed our hope that it is applied fairly and in the future those excluded can be integrated.
